Member Outcomes: Skills, Work and Earnings

A recurring series about what members actually achieved — including the ones for whom it took far longer than they expected.

This series will follow members through what actually happened: what they learned, what they applied for, what they won and what they earned. These are the terms it will be written under.

The whole distribution, not the top of it

Most platforms publish their best outcomes and let readers assume they are typical. This series will not. It will include members who took months to win their first piece of work, members who applied repeatedly without success, and members who stopped.

A prospective member deciding whether to spend money needs the range far more than they need the best case.

What each outcome will state

  • Where the member started — skills, situation, and what they were looking for
  • What they did — courses, exams, badges, applications, over what period
  • How long it took, including the waiting
  • What they earned, with the period it covers
  • What they would do differently

Named, or not published

Members appear by their own consent and under their own name. An outcome nobody will attach their name to is not evidence, and treating it as evidence would be dishonest to every reader.

What no outcome implies

Knomart's promise is access, never income. One member's earnings say nothing about what another will earn, because the work available depends on skills, location, the density of businesses nearby and how many others applied. A published outcome is a record of what happened, not a forecast.

Why this is empty for now

The community is young. Publishing outcomes before there are enough of them to show a range would mean publishing a handful of favourable ones — which is exactly the practice this series exists to avoid.

Taking part

Members willing to have their route published, including the difficult parts, can say so from their profile. The ones who struggled are the most valuable contributors here, not the least.
