Gold Coins have exactly two uses. Keeping the list this short is deliberate: a currency that can buy many things eventually buys something it should not.
Profile boost
Raises how prominently your profile appears when merchants are browsing members rather than reviewing applicants. It is useful when you have something new worth seeing — a fresh badge, a completed track, a service you have started offering.
Spending it on an incomplete profile wastes it. The boost brings attention to what is there; if what is there is thin, attention does not help.
Job-board priority
Improves your visibility in relation to postings, so relevant opportunities are more likely to reach you and your application is more likely to be seen.
It does not change the ranking a merchant sees when they compare applicants. That ranking is Profile Strength: profile completeness, verified identity, community micro-tasks, assessments passed, verified badges and merchant ratings — with ratings weighing heaviest.
The line neither crosses
Visibility is not selection. A merchant still chooses on fit, verified skills, reliability and reputation. Gold can put you in front of someone; it cannot make you the better candidate.
This is the same rule that applies to money: paying more never moves a weaker applicant ahead of a stronger one. It would be strange to close that door to cash and leave it open to Gold.
Spend it before it expires
Gold expires 30 days after it is earned, with a countdown visible on your balance. Holding it for a better moment usually means losing it.
When it is actually worth using
Right after you have earned a badge, completed a verified profile, or started offering a new service. Visibility is worth most at the moment there is something new to see.
What it will never buy
Anything with a cash price. Not membership, not the $5 exam, not the $100 agent track, and not goods. Those are cash, and diamonds redeem for goods — Gold stays inside the platform.
