If the board near you is thin, that is information about your area rather than about you. Pretending otherwise is how members end up blaming themselves for a density problem.
Check the density map first
Before drawing conclusions, look at how many verified businesses are actually around you. A quiet board in a low-density area is expected; a quiet board in a dense one means your skills and what is being posted do not overlap, which is a different problem with a different answer.
Separate work that needs presence from work that does not
Some postings require you to be somewhere. Others — writing, data entry, social media, design, research, customer support — do not. If your local board is thin, the work that travels well is where your effort belongs.
Building verified skills in those areas is the single most useful response to low local density.
Do not pay to upgrade into an empty market
